Summary:
The Fool's Errand is a meta-puzzle, meaning you have to solve several puzzles in order to solve the main one. The game revolves around The Sun puzzle, a 9x9 grid. It is the main puzzle and you get 21 pieces (click on the blue diamond to see the real side) at the start. After each solved puzzle, another piece will appear.
Each puzzle has a story component. The main gist of the game is that the fool is looking for the 14 treasures of the world. These treasures were lost by the four Kingdoms. To go from the scroll to the actual puzzle, click on the question mark to the left of the title of that puzzle at the bottom.
The game is divided into five sections of puzzles marked with Roman numerals at the top of the screen. Each of these sections has puzzles in it. The puzzles vary in type, from crosswords to word searches to jigsaws to unique games such as the card game in The Wheel of Fortune puzzle. And that isn't even half of them.
In summary, this game has a lot of fun puzzles but also a lot of frustrating and confusing puzzles. Explanation of the latter would have been helpful, but I did find a helpful walkthrough that explained the puzzles and gave solutions. You can find it here.
Controls:
None really, you just use the mouse. You can configure the game to use the keyboard if you install the game. Then, the controls are pretty self-explanatory, with the arrow keys being the main buttons to use. You can find more about using the keyboard in the General Notes section of the walkthrough linked above.
