Summary:
The first thing you will see is the "Choose type of display" screen. Only 1 and 2 worked for me, and 2 (EGA) looked better, so I went with that.
Mini Putt first requires some practice. Choose "Practice a hole" from the menu. From here you choose between four courses. Next, choose which hole to play on that course. Each course has nine holes. In each course, the holes are similar. I found the "Classic" course to be the toughest because it had the most difficult obstacles. Obstacles range from water to elephants to hills.
The other game mode is playing a course for real. Choose "Play a course" for this. In this mode you have to play the holes in order and your score is taken. The default high scores can be seen when you select a course. After choosing a course and typing your name as the first golfer, a field for golfer #2 will come up. Just press Enter if you want to play alone, or type in another name if you are playing with a friend. Up to four players are supported.
In the bottom middle there is a scale map of the hole. Use this to navigate your shots. In the bottom right there is a box with the par, number of putts, and the hole number. Keep an eye on this to see how you are doing.
Controls:
The bottom left part of the screen deals with putting. To the left of the picture of your player, there is a bar that goes up to 32. This is the power of your shot. When you hit, move the cursor keys to move the little +. As you move that, a number will show under the power bar. This is how hard you have to hit the ball to have it reach that point. Under the picture of your golfer is the spin bar. The closer to the middle, the less spin. Press space once to activate the power bar. Press space again to stop it. The bar will fill to whatever number you press space at then disappear down and the spin bar will be activated. Press space again to choose spin.
