Summary:
You play as a poor peasant who finds a dead body and loots a leather scroll, armband, and some coins from it. You then get transported to a galactic museum where you find out that the mission is to disable the leather scroll called the Wizard's Compendium picked up from the dead body. The game starts in a dungeon like area. "Xamine" at least some of the TV-screen like boxes on the wall for more information and items before you set out on to visit towns and travel on the world map.
Legacy of the Ancients contains traits found in many RPGs. Towns with shops are scattered throughout a land of monsters. Weapons can be bought or sold, magic and food can be bought, loans can be made, and banking can be done inside the towns. A fun aspect is the gambling, of which I found Flip-Flop to be the most fun and profitable. It can be found in Alanville, and perhaps in other towns (I haven't gotten far in the game).
