Summary:
This classic arcade game was brought to DOS in 1983, two years after it was first invented. The game is simple: make it across the street without becoming road kill, then make it across the river onto one of five openings. Once all five spots are filled, you move on to the next level. The levels are all similar or at least the ones I have played in are. You have five lives and there is a time limit. A bar near the bottom of the screen that gets smaller and smaller indicates how much time you have left.
Controls:
The default controls are awkward but fortunately you can change them. When starting the game, you should be given the option of pressing F10 or another key to play. F10 will take you to the menu, so press it. From the menu you can press F1 to set your own controls. If you use the arrow keys, it will show letters when you press them, but don't worry, the arrow keys will work.
Important Technical Note:
This game will probably run too fast on your computer, or not at all. You should be using DOSBox. It will run fast in DOSBox too, but we can fix this. Press Ctrl+F11 to lower the Cpu Cycles. This game is most normal at about 200 cycles. Check the applications section for more info on DOSBox.
