Summary:
Alter Ego gives players the chance to lead another life, either as a male or female. You control everything this alter person does, and can play 7 stages starting from birth & infancy and ending with old age. At the start of the game, you have the chance to select your personality or let the computer do it for you.
The bulk of the game is reading situations and making decisions. These situations are placed on a connected diagram (chronologically ordered, higher being older) and each is represented by one of six symbols. The symbol determines what part of you is affected by the situation. For example, the heart affects your emotional characteristics. You will also make life choices based on your career and relationships.
So why the low rating? This game just bored me, I couldn't imagine playing it all the way through. There's a lot of reading. I don't want to read a book, I want to play a game! Don't get me wrong, it is well written and some people will definitely enjoy it, but it's not for me.
Controls:
